Ancestor of the Day for 14 Mar: another in the semi-regular series of Great Aunts and Uncles I never knew. Mary’s great aunt Johanna Gustavia Blixrud was born 2 Jan 1877 on the Blixrud homestead in Lien Twp, Grant Co, MN, the fourth daughter of Jens Neilson and Jøren Lee Blixrud. Johanna and her mother Jøren shared a birthday.
She was married 14 Jan 1900 at Immanuel Lutheran Church to Iver Anderson Ronhovde, born 27 Jun 1868 near Bergen, Norway and d 11 Jan 1937. They had 8 children, one of whom died aged 5. All 8 were born in the Barrett area, as their baptisms are all recorded in the Immanuel Lutheran (Lien Twp) church registers and the family is in Elk Lake Twp in Grant Co for the 1920 census. At some point after 1920, they moved to McGrath, MN.
Both Johanna and Iver died in McGrath, she on 14 Mar 1931 and he on 11 Jan 1937. They are buried at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery in Lien Twp, MN. Interestingly, her oldest sister Anne had married Iver’s older brother Mons Ronhovde, who had 9 children (8 of whom lived to adulthood). That next generation had lots of “double cousins”.
