The Story Begins...
Where does one begin with family history? What do you do when the family tree is really more like a forest, with entangled branches and offshoots?
This story will start at the place where I grew up. The original home is no longer there, yet the land and homestead is still in the family, and provides a home and haven and livelihood for the generations who follow.
We owe our thanks to the generations before us who instilled in us a sense of family, of belonging, of sharing stories and history, and maintaining connections across the country and across the globe.

Those of you who know me know that I'm generally a bit more wordy than that. Hence, no Twitter for me. But, after years of sharing my ancestry stories on Facebook I finally decided to broaden my horizons. Here, then, is the scoop on blixrud.com. Types of articles you can expect to see are tidbits about ancestors and their lives, images of historical records, links to places and sites of interest such as churches and locales, and outright speculation about their lives and times. This site may carry my maiden name, but will be devoted to all historical lines in the family. As such, some family members may find articles which don't relate (so to speak...) to them. By choosing a category filter, you can narrow the focus of what you see.
